In Loving Memory of Richard Delgado Jr.

Richard Delgado was born on November 24, 1982, in San Diego, California, to his beloved mother, Beleda Miller. From the very beginning, Richard lived life on his own terms. He had a personality that was impossible to ignore—funny, generous, protective, stubborn, and always ready to keep the people around him laughing. Richard had a huge heart, even when he didn’t always show it in the most obvious ways.

If Richard bought you a gift, chances were he couldn’t wait to give it to you. Keeping a surprise was never easy for him because he was too excited to see the smile on someone’s face. Making others happy brought him just as much joy as the gift itself.

Richard loved his mom, his children, his grandchildren, Chinese food, and most of all, his peace. He was a proud, die-hard Chargers fan through and through. He also took great pride in the way he carried himself. Everyone knew Richard was always matching from head to toe, covered in his jewelry, and looking fresh wherever he went. As Richard would say, he was always “doin’ it big.” That wasn’t simply a saying—it was the way he lived his life.

Richard was known for many things, but he was especially known for his cooking. Anyone fortunate enough to taste one of his meals knew he had a true gift in the kitchen. He loved experimenting with new recipes, creating his own signature sauces, and putting his personal touch on everything he made. Cooking was more than something Richard enjoyed—it was one of his greatest passions.

His love for cooking inspired him to start a catering business with his partner. Richard dreamed of one day owning his own food truck and eventually opening a restaurant where he could share his talent and passion with even more people. Although life eventually took him down a different path, that dream remained close to his heart.

Above all else, Richard was incredibly proud of his children. He loved talking about them every chance he got and never missed an opportunity to tell people how much they meant to him. So much of what Richard worked for was with his children in mind. His greatest hope was to make sure they were taken care of, protected, and given the opportunity for a better future.

Providing for his children, protecting them, and knowing they would always be okay were among the greatest motivations in Richard’s life. His love for his children was unconditional, unwavering, and everlasting. They will forever carry a piece of their father with them—in their hearts, in their memories, and in the lives they continue to build.

Richard leaves to cherish his memory three beloved children: Ayanna Angeletta-Delgado, Teanna Angeletta-Delgado, and Richard Angeletta-Delgado; four bonus children: Destiny Herrod, Eddie Herrod, Charelton Herrod, and Cameron Herrod; two grandchildren: Jayceon Angeletta-Delgado and Alaysia Angeletta-Delgado; one bonus grandchild, Kingston Herrod; and his seven siblings.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Beleda Miller; his father, Lawrence Cowans Sr.; Laura Miller; Rochelle Miller; and his nephew, Dejon White.

More than anything, Richard will be remembered for the laughter he brought into every room, the meals that brought family and friends together, his unforgettable sense of humor, his larger-than-life personality, his generous spirit, and the love he had for the people closest to him.

Richard leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will forever be treasured by his family, friends, and everyone blessed enough to have known him. His presence may no longer be with us physically, but his spirit will live on—in every shared meal, every laugh, every Chargers game, every story told about him, and every memory that brings a smile to our faces.

His legacy will continue through his children and grandchildren, who will carry his love, his strength, his humor, and his unforgettable spirit forward for generations to come.

Richard lived life fully, proudly, and unapologetically. He loved deeply, laughed loudly, dreamed big, and always found a way to “do it big.”

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
