Leland Anthony Elliott

Leland Anthony Elliott, cherished and beloved father, passed away at home in El Cajon, California with his daughter and faithful dogs by his side on July 18, 2025, at the age of 89 . Born on January 18, 1936, in Illinois, Leland lived a life filled with unforgettable memories.

For over 25 years, Leland enjoyed a rewarding career as a semi driver. His love for vehicles extended beyond his professional life; he was known for his expertise in working on cars for anyone who sought his help. Leland was always willing to lend a hand to friends and share his knowledge.

With a personality that was best described as a "Tough Guy" with a heart of gold, Leland was never one to sit still. He thrived on activity and was constantly on the move, often taking trips to the hardware store for items he was certain he needed. Leland found joy in the simple things in life, nothing made him happier than long phone conversations filled with stories of his past, or quiet moments outdoors with his beloved dogs, Archer and Trey.

His hobbies reflected his adventurous spirit. He reminisced fondly about thrilling skydiving experiences and the exhilaration of riding motorcycles on beautiful days, and driving truck; memories that brought him great joy.

Leland is survived by his devoted daughter, Susan Elliott (mother, Sally Elliott);  his sister, Leota Ross Romig; special friend who was like a son to him Paul Swanson and many nieces, nephews and cousins who he talked to regularly either through phone calls or texts.

He is predeceased by parents; Frank & Savilla (Strickfaden) Elliott; Brian Elliott (son) and Cecelia Elliott (daughter). siblings; Lurline Gangel, Clatus Elliott, Glen Elliott, ILA Peterson. nieces/nephews; Mary Gangel McClard, Steven Peterson, Bonnie Elliott Brown.

As we reflect on Leland's life, we remember a man who not only made a lasting impression on those he met. He will be profoundly missed, yet fondly remembered for the countless memories he created throughout his remarkable journey.

A memorial will be planned at a later date in his hometown of Rockford, IL.
