John Irwin Lane

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our son and brother, John I. Lane. John died unexpectedly on February 10 in San Diego at the age of 58 years.  He was the son of Gayle (Marcy) Bergqvist and the sister of Misty G. Lane.

John grew up in Ocean Beach and attended Point Loma High School.  He loved the ocean and surfed most days when he was younger. He worked in the construction and landscaping fields for many years and his beautiful garden designs were admired by people in the neighborhood.  In his spare time, he enjoyed watching baseball, restoring cars and trucks, working out at the gym and playing with his many pets. His greatest passion in life was the rescue and care of many animals – dogs, cats, birds, turtles, and even lizards.  

A memorial service will be held at Westminister Presbyterian Church, 3598 Talbot Street, San Diego, CA 92106 on April 9^th at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, friends and relatives are welcome to make a donation to ASPCA .org (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) in John's name.
