Gene Vittori                                             January 15, 1952 - October 15, 2025

Gene Vittori, beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and family members, after a courageous battle with ALS.

Gene was born and raised in San Francisco and attended Riordan High School, Class of 1970. Gene worked many years as the groundskeeper and golf coach at Terra Nova High School, Pacifica, CA.

Gene had many interests that included golfing with his wife, brothers and friends; playing softball, bocce ball and cribbage; and cheering on his favorite sports team, the SF Giants.

He is survived by Maggie, his devoted wife of 13 years; sister Vicki; twin brother Dean (Sue); brothers Larry (Jill) and Gary (Linda); nieces Tracey Gilfeather (Matt), Aimee Hanebeck (Chris), and Lisa Stadler (Ronny); and nephews Bryan Vittori, Keith Vittori, and Jason McCluney (Nicola). Gene was known to his nieces and nephews as “Uncle Ice” because he was so cool. He also leaves behind friendships too many to name, but a special shoutout to the “Gang” who were a second family to him.

Gene and Maggie moved to San Diego four years ago and began giving back to the community by volunteering with the Feeding San Diego food distribution program. Gene was soon diagnosed with ALS and began participating in the UCSD ALS Research program. Maggie takes comfort in knowing Gene is part of the effort to find a cure.

ALS San Diego is the organization that cared for Gene with compassion and kindness. Knowing others will need the same loving care that Gene received, please visit ALSSanDiego.org to make a donation in memory of Gene Vittori and help keep the Geno legacy of giving alive.
