Eric Kleckner Ewing

Eric Kleckner Ewing was born to Benjamin Thomas Ewing and Vae Alene Kleckner on July 31, 1964 in Madison, Wisconsin. He passed away from cancer at 59 years old on October 10, 2023 in Escondido, California.

Eric was confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in Arvada, Colorado.

Although he spent most of his life in the San Diego area, he remained a devoted Denver Broncos, Colorado hockey fan, and, especially, a Chicago Cubs fan.  Among other activities, his favorite ones were fly fishing and golfing.  His favorite place on Earth was the lake in Colorado where he, his father, mother, and brother went in 1973 and he continued going for many years until 2020.

The high/low point in his life was a liver transplant on Thanksgiving day, November 27, 2008. It saved his life and he lived a fun-filled life for fifteen more years.

Eric is survived by his mother Vae Gregory; brother Craig Ewing; great aunt Ruth Blosch; uncle and aunt Marlin and Sheron Kleckner; cousins Tim and wife Deborah (O'Brien) Kleckner, Dan Kleckner, and Matt and Katherine (Reid) Kleckner; cousins Ann (Seeman) Unertl and Kent Seeman; aunt Nancy (Gofke) Ewing; cousins Richard Ewing, John Ewing, and Carrie Ewing; and Eric's dear friend Aimee Solitaria.

A memorial service for Eric occurs on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 2pm at Community Lutheran Church in Escondido, California.  Refreshments will be available following the service.  Please send donations to either the UCSD Liver Transplant Program, 4510 Executive Drive, Suite Plaza 7, San Diego, CA 92121 or a charity of your choice.
